Also, if there are any law schools in your area, they probably have a domestic violence clinic that will provide free assistance.

How Can I Establish My Own Charity / NGO???

Please give me guidance on how best to go about establishing my own charity / NGO.

I want to establish a charity/NGO which deals with female victims of acid attacks. My Charity will have several goals: the establishment of a trust/fund so that these victims can afford the best surgerical treatment; closer work with the UN and lobby the UN to classify acid attacks as a crime against humanity; create more global awareness; lobby governments to pay for all expenses related to surgery; lobby governments to streamline the sale of acidic substances; lobby governments to introduce the death penalty for perpetrators of female acid attacks.

I have chosen this cause for several reasons: I think that the issue does not receive adequate media or public attention, care and sympathy; many victims tend to be poor and thus are unable to afford adequate medical care; I believe that giving a woman her beauty back is one of the biggest gifts one human can give to another.

First do your research. The Internet is a good starting point. Check out existing NGOs that work with acid attack survivors. Presume you are in India? Check out a website like maybe www.karmayog.org or www.sutradhar.org who has a Fingertips directory of organisations. Also if you do a basic search for "how to start an NGO India" or "starting a charitable trust India" you will get a lot of advice from websites. Unfortunately I can't remember the urls .. sorry! But they are out there and they give full advice on setting up an NGO .. there will explain the difference between a trust and an NGO and what paperwork etc is required. You'll have to put together a business plan of sorts before you can register, and for an NGO you will need at least seven members as far as I know.

Once you get clearer on the basics from these Internet sites, you'll be able to proceed with more clarity. Good luck with your venture!
