I wonder, if the world had always treated women as equals,how much farther civilization would be today?
How many Inventors, Engineers, Business people, Diplomats, and World Leaders have we missed out on in the past, just because for so long ,we couldn't except women as anything more than family caretakers.
Basically its like turning down half your natural resources just because you don't want to believe they exist.
I can only imagine it would be better........ how much is impossible to say.

Which notable women would you like to see included as part of the 20/20 summit steering committee and why?
Think business people, experts, community leaders...
On Kevin Rudd's website he states that the Summit is designed to help shape a long term strategy for the nation’s future – covering the economy, the nation’s infrastructure, our environment, our farmers, health care, indigenous Australians, the arts, national security, how we improve our system of government, and how we strengthen our communities and ensure nobody is left out of Australia’s future.
====
The background of this question is that politicians and women's groups have voiced concern that only one woman - actor Cate Blanchett - was included on the summit's independent steering committee. http://au.news.yahoo.com/080203/2/15pwp.html
I want to know which Australian women YOU think deserve to be on the committee and what they have done to deserve it?
There are lots of Australian women who have done great things for the country! The Government even has their own website that lists many of them - http://www.australianbiography.gov.au
I would choose Children's Court Magistrate, Barbara Holborow because children are the future of this country and she obviously knows the worst and best of how kids are.
Born 1930, Sydney NSW she served for 12 years as a magistrate in the children's court, where her compassion and outspokenness were legendary - perhaps because of her own beginnings.
Barbara married young. It was only after the death of her first child and subsequent split with her husband that she found a job as a legal secretary and resumed her high school studies. She went on to study law and started practising as a solicitor, specialising in children's cases.
Barbara talks openly about the formative influences on her life, the kids she has fostered and adopted and her ongoing commitment to reforming the judicial system for children.
Surely someone so dedicated to children, the adults of tomorrow is in a good place to provide discussion and recommendations that are in their best interests.
