I took a women’s safety class several months ago. The woman who held the class was WONDERFUL and I learned so much and have already passed on so many helpful tips to my friends on how to protect ourselves! Thank you so very much for giving me the opportunity to take this class!!!!!!!!!

One nurses story...
“I was in downtown Olympia to pick up some things at Radiance Herbs. It was a beautiful day with people walking around. I parked in a nearby parking lot. As I left my car, I was approached by two panhandlers, who asked me for money. I told them I didn’t have any money to give them and one of them walked away. The second man, however, started pacing me shoulder to shoulder as I walked toward my destination, muttering under his breath. As we approached the stop light he began to get loud and really foul things were coming out of his mouth. At this point, I was afraid. As I stood there I recalled instantly what we had been taught in the seminar. I squared my shoulders, turned to him, and in my loudest voice yelled, ‘Go AWAY or I am going to call the cops!!!” He slunk away without another word. I got to Radiance and stood in the doorway and shook for awhile. Then all of a sudden, a good feeling came over me as I realized, ‘Oh my goodness, this stuff really works!’”

I attend MOPS at High Pointe Community Church and a few months back you gave a safety class to our MOPS At Nite group.
Well, tonight at about 11 p.m. I was at the South Hill Fred Meyer, I had just finished loading groceries into my van ( my purse was the first thing I put in my van, usually I never do that first, glad I did though!) and I was approached by a man. His truck was facing my van, he approached me from the front. I didn't see him coming until he was about 10 feet away from me. I got that awful, sick "uh-oh" feeling instantly. The way he walked toward me, it was so quick, it really put me on the defense. He started talking fast about needing gas money, he was down on his luck, long way from home, etc.
I had tuned him out by this point,I had my finger on the panic button on my key ring, and I faced him directly, squared my shoulders and gave my best "back the heck up" look. I told him I didn't have any money, he just turned around, got into his truck and left.
He was a pretty big guy, about 6-2 and pretty wiry from the loks of him. He didn't technically do anything or threaten me in any way, but come on, what "good guy" approaches a lady alone in the parking lot that late at night? I think maybe when he got close enough to me he saw that my purse wasn't on my shoulder or in the cart, and that maybe I wasn't going to be easy to rob or whatever he may have had planned.
I got in my van and watched him drive off in his truck---only to see him stop at Bank Of America and approach someone using the drive through ATM! He actually walked right up to them as they were using it. Scary stuff!!!
Anyway.......thank you so much for providing this service to us. I was able to keep myself together and think rationally, and a lot of what you had taught us came rushing back in an instant. I was ready to fight if I had to. (and next time I'm out shopping that late I will take the store up on their offer to help me carry the groceries out to my car!)
Keep teaching the class, and thank you again--
