Taser For Self Defense
Will you get arrested if you use a taser for self defense?
Assuming you own and carry one in a state where it is legal.
If someone attacks you and you use it to disable them will you get in trouble with the cops?
If you use it on someone who is attacking another person will you get in trouble?
If you're worried about your safety, who cares?
If you're more worried about being arrested than being harmed, you probably don't need it.

Are TASER guns legal to own and carry in California?
I want to buy a TASER and, ideally, be able to carry it around in my purse. I'm a small woman who lives and works in a city with too much crime for my comfort. While I have no interest in carrying an actual firearm, I recently saw a TASER demonstration and thought it would be the perfect self-defense weapon.
The civilian models of the taser, specifically the Taser M18 / M18-L, the Taser X26c, and the soon to be released Taser C2 are all legal to carry in the state of California, both concealed and open. They are not considered a firearm, so they are not subject to the same restrictions of a gun. There are some places where they cannot be carried. Any public school, most if not all universities, any public meeting, or any public or federal building are the exact places where the taser cannot be legally carried. However, if you work in a public state or federal building, you can request a permit to carry your taser from the head of building security.
In my opinion, the x26c or c2 would be best for you to carry in your purse. The taser is indeed an excellent choice for self defense. As long as you are able to make contact with both probes, you will see a behavior change in the person; most likely, they will fall and scream. I hope this helps.
