Tai Chi For Self Defense

Martial Arts A question for someone that might know?

Im in my 40's . For self defense should i Take ta kwan do or Tai chi . That's the only two i have to coose from . That is close.

Tai Chi can be quite effective once its fighting applications are taught and understood. Quite often this is not taught to students until some time after they have learned the forms. If you are looking for a more traditional art and don't worry about the time till a practical understanding for defence is learned, go with Tai Chi (again, IF, the instructor teaches this aspect)
TKD will put you right into the fire so to speak, as sparring is a major part of any TKD school. If you are looking for quick fighting experience I would recommend TKD.

whats the most aggresive fighting style?

im looking for the most aggresive fighting style out there. ive been doing tai chi for awhile now and while there is only a little self defence i know ther has to be something to where i wouldnt need any self defense. thanks for all your help.

Two comments for you:

1) Either you have not seen the self-defense in your Tai Chi Chuan, or your instructor has not taught it.

2) Styles are not aggressive, people are... A style is like a gun, It won't jump up and hurt someone. It is the person that decides if and how it will be used.
