I want to learn some self defense moves.?

Ok Right quick let me start off by saying I can't afford to take any classes. So that's out of the question.
Ok so the reason why i want to learn some self defense moves is because I'm always hearing about attacks and such and I have to say it has me a little freaked out (ok ALOT freaked out but still >.<) And IF I am ever put in a situation like that i want to be able to have a fighting chance to save myself. Any ideas,websites,videos etc that could help me?
But what if I don't have the extra money to spend?

Also, make sure to practice with a partner when learning from the internet. You might want to invest in some MMA gloves 6 oz should do the trick.

You should always keep in mind that objects around you can be used to defend yourself. Things like dirt, sand, chairs, and anything that could help you.

Finally, you should have the mentality to kill instead of just trying to run. If you do not have a killing intent, you may not be able to escape. Just make sure you don't really kill him/her.

Anyone know how/where to volunteer for exercise dummies?

My boyfriend wants to volunteer for a women's self-defense class as an exercise dummy. We live in the bay area of California. Does anyone know any good websites on how to volunteer for it and where? Has anyone ever done this?
