Self Defense Walking Sticks

Charged for excessive force?

I was outside, and a classmate from school that hates me went up to me and pushed me. I pushed him back. Then, he slapped me. Then, I hit the side of his jaw with all I had. He was knocked out. He fell to the floor. When I looked down, I saw a bone sticking out. ( I was thinking: " Holy fuck! " ) Then, I walked away. The next day I got court papers. He is taking me to court of excessive force? What the hell? It was self defense! How the hell can he charge me for excessive force?
I won the case. I still don't understand. How can he charge me for excessive force? I punched him in the jaw...

Bone sticking out ... that seems to me, like excessive force. It is more force then needed, to defend yourself. Be mindful of how strong you are.

But guess what ... he learned his lesson, didn't he?

City officers! A question?

Would you be concerned if a young man was walking with a large sheperd-like stick for self defense? About 3 feet long?
No just a regular clothes. No low pants or dreads or anything.

If a gang banger I normally would take their stick, cane, shepard's crook or golf club (another favorite) and break/bend it it over my knee.
