Self Defense Stores

I punched an 11 year old girl in self defense, can I face charges?

I was at the halloween store minding my own business, again i was minding my own business. I was about to purchase the last bag of halloween candy corn they had. I had it in my hand, and this child came upto me, and said can i have that bag, it was the last one, and i really wanted it. I firmly said NO! I was hear first. There are other stores that might carry it. She said i was meany, and stumped on my foot and shoved me. When no one was looking I punched her arm face and pushed her into the wall, and said Dont you dare lay hand on me. She started crying. This was in self defense, I WAS UNDER ATTACK!! Then her mother came running upto me, and started cussing me, saying how dare i treat an 11 yr old that way, and she slapped me across the face, so i grabbed her arms and ran her into a wall. I heard in the state of Nevada if somebody comes within 3 feet of your personal space, you can hit them in self defense.
I'm 49 years old.

You are very lucky. If I had been there and saw you assault an 11 year old girl and then her mother, I wouldn't have just slapped you across the face; I'd have slapped you right into the hospital.

"Self Defense," for your information, means that you were actually in danger. What? Was that little girl shooting at you? Carving her initials in you with a knife?

If I attacked you -- 180 pounds of muscle and 30 years training in martial arts -- you could claim "self defense." If an 11 year old girl steps on your shoe and you punch her in the face, that's criminal and sick.

If you have a shred of dignity, you'll just turn yourself in, do your time, write a letter of apology to the girl and her mother, and try to do something good with what remains of your life.

Self Defense question!! What can you legally do and cant do in certain situations?

im a martial artist and I just wanted to know what I can and cant do in certain situations either being about myself or others.
example 1: say I am going to get attacked and I cant run because i have to run with all my stuff ie backpack/books and if i leave it he will steal it.
if i get into legal matters what would happen if i stay and fight him off?

Example 2: I am going to be attacked and i am trapped by the attacker.
What can I do and cant do "legally" to defend myself, i.e. dislocate stuff/rip eyes out etc

Example 3: I am at a gas station and the guy in front of me is robbing the store.
Legally can I subdue the guy without hurting him i.e. knock him out by pressure points or simply put him in a lock and hold?

~And what would be some of the legal consequences if I had done some of these things?

thanks!

It depends on your state. In example in Ohio in any instance where lethal force may need to be applied it would need to be life or death of yourself or another party, you have to attempt flight 1st and you cannot do anything to escalate the occurence. In example you cannot brandish knives/handguns/tell people you will ruin them.

Example 1 I would see working poorly for you in court, belongings are generally viewed as trivial over the life/well being of anyone, including the assailant.

Example 2 would be an instance in Ohio where you could use lethal force if you feel like you may be killed

Example 3 If the guy isn't doing any physical harm, just theft, it may not be wise to intervene. It would be viewed as an escalation of an already tense situation and if anything bad happens , IE Dude shoots someone, you could actually be held liable for causing the escalation and the bystander being shot in court. Yeah you didn't intend that to happen, you didn't pull the trigger, but you caused the guy to react and do so.
