Self Defense Rights
How many agree that you have no right to self defense if you are being starved through a medieval siege?
Haha that's hilarious. This poor girl has dropped off of the reality train into lala land.
@ lost to the living: it is because of HAMAS that they are in this predicament. The entire population is being punished for what the militant arm of HAMAS has caused. If the people would get rid of them they could get down to real peace talks. The way things are now, anyone who even thinks about sitting down with Israel is seen as an Uncle Abdul traitor and HAMAS punishes them. It has only been a few years since HAMAS went on a killing spree inside Palestine trying to wipe out anyone who was talking peace.

Self Defense Rights
Why is it that whenever abortion rights increase, self-defense rights decrease?
I've totally noticed this trend and desire some feedback from others. I've also noticed the opposite, wherever self-defense rights increase, abortion rights decrease. California and (probably New York) is way pro abortion but I've heard it's virtually impossible to defend yourself with force without criminal prosecution. Those two states also have the strictist gun laws.
On the other hand, Kentucky and Louisiana, at least from what I've read, would just love to criminalize abortion. but those two states have a "stand your ground" self-defense law and it's also very easy to legally obtain a handgun with no waiting period whatsoever. As I've said before, I've noticed this correlation between abortion rights and self-defense rights. Wherever one of those rights increases, the other decreases. Why is that?
I don't know if it's a "direct correlation" is the right word. but it's a pattern I've certainly noticed.
I believe this would be an "Illusory correlation," meaning on the surface they appear related, but they actually aren't and there is another explanation.
My best hypothesis is that the laws of these states are based on "party platforms" of Republican and Democrat. The US is rather polarized in it's political parties sometimes, and each party has a "stance" they tend to take of a specific range of issues. Often this tends to shoehorn otherwise free-thinking politicians into making decisions based on the view commonly espoused by their party. Democrats tend to be pro-choice and anti-violence, Republicans pro-life and pro-gun.
There is also another factor in place here, and that is population density. NYC and LA are the most densely populated urban centers in the US. Violence tends to be very high in urban areas, creating the great need for the state to try to regulate all uses of force (in itself a debatable point of view), whereas in rural areas with little government resources immediately available, individual reliance and self-sufficiency is strongly stressed. Along the abortion line, urban areas are often over-crowded and unwanted pregnancies MUCH higher in occurrence, whereas in rural areas this is not really a problem.
Note an interesting cross-over of these two issues: Violent crime remained relatively high in the US overall, until 1991 when it began to drop rapidly through today. 1991 is exactly 18 years after Roe v. Wade. Interesting, isn't it?
