Self Defense Moves For Kids

Teaching karate to a couple kids from school?

i am 15 years old and i have been doing karate for 10 years i am very good and i have taught kids and adults alike i want to teach a couple kids my age some self defense moves and have some classes (casual) i was wondering how much i should charge (central ny people don't have a lot of money) i was thinking about $10 per class which would be 45 minutes-hour long...should it be lower? suggestions? what would you pay?
yes i can explain how to do a sidekick and yes i do know what hip rotation is. assuming is bad don't do it.

I am going to be completely honest with you. I wouldn't train with you.

I trained with a 16 year old who was, not kidding, a member of a national karate team, had trained all over the world with many grandmasters, and had won countless nationals. Could he explain things? Of course! Did he know his stuff? What do you think? Yes he did. He knew it very well.

But he lacked a level of maturity that's necessary for teaching. That's really the problem with a lot of teen instructors.

I had to teach too when I was 15. My teacher couldn't be there several classes, so I was asked to teach. There was so much I couldn't do. I couldn't explain things like my teacher could, even though I thought I could. I could explain a side kick, but adapting to the needs of each student personally? Didn't work. I lacked the maturity needed to really understand their needs.

Am I saying you're this way? No. Am I saying you can't do it? No. But only explaining why myself, and perhaps everyone else here, would be skeptical.

But here's some things to consider. This is the reality of teaching.

Can you keep your class under control? If the other teenage students start to get out of hand, do you honestly think they'd respect you enough to listen to you? Something to consider. Respect is earned not granted. The only reason I could keep other teens under control is because the next day my teacher was going to be back, and they would have to answer for any problems they caused. You on the other hand will be all alone.

Help with Self - Defense?

So I recently moved froma private school to a public school, for personal reasons. I went to a place that has a really good music program, but there is a little problem with the school.
almost all the kids there are really voilent and aggressive. when someone challenges you to a fight, and you have no choice,or they will attack you as a group. They even have different types of fights. Yesterday there was a fight between two kids, and they both were using bos.
I recently joined a Karate dojo, that I used to go to, for about three years. It has been about 4 years since I have been there.
I was wondering how long It would take to be able to adequately defend myself? I am 14 years old. I am quite unfit, but I'm very agile. all help will be appreciated.

Go to a different Dojo. Don't do karate for self defense. Learn Boxing, or Muay Thai, or just kick boxing. I really reccomend those 3. If you learn those you will beat their a$$. Look into those. Sound slike a school with a bunch of inner city black kids. Learn Muay Thai. If you are unfit i suggest rkav maga, but be careful, Their are a lot of fake krav schools
