Self Defense, personal alarms for women? Something they would actually always wear/carry?

I got these ladies these hand held personal alarms. You pull the pin, big alarm bell goes off. It works as a flash light too. Problem is they are too big, like carrying a big mac sandwich.

personal alarms? idk I always thought that was what the scream was for no matter men or women it was supposed to give a loud and instantly recognizable signal to every one around that someone was in some sort of trouble

having one that still goes off while you are unconscious is nice but there is the issue of while you are fiddling with that thing you could be trying to get away fending off the attacker or any other number of things

also what do these things sound like? a car alarm? idk about you but most people I know do not instantly think that someones car is being robbed when they hear one go off they think some idiot just set one off accidentally. my point here is that the instinct to go and see what is wrong to some siren alarm is not ingrained to most people unless they specifically have become accustomed to responding to this alarm in question

now something that gives a gps signal and sends an sos to the authorities in an emergency is another matter entirely( most cell phones are designed to do this) via the 999 or 911 systems

idk but it seems like it would not be that useful overall to me
