What are Texas' laws on Domestic violence, but to a minor?

Well a long story but my friend who lives in Texas gets Physically abused by her step-father what are the laws to self defense or whatever? And if she got removed from her home (like foster care) Would she be able to go to a friends house or would she be put into cps' system?
If anyone has a link that would help as well if not try to put it into simple terms a 16 year old can understand >.>

Domestic violence applies to adults. If a minor is the victim, it is considered child abuse.

The courts and CPS will determine where the minor is placed.

Citation for Domestic Violence?

A few weeks ago I got a citation for "Domestic Violence" Long story me and my wife got into a argument and I ended pulling her hair in self defense thinking when she went to grab something to throw at me. Since she got in my face and she always ends up hitting me when she gets really close to me. Anyhow my question is my record has always been clean I have never been in trouble and now I have to go to court in a few weeks and I still don't know what I'm being charged for but I saw the ticket and it's marked of as a misdemeanor should i get a lawyer? If not how should go in front of judge and explain myself in how she as a record for doing this.

No you don't need to waste money on a lawyer.If this is your first offense and it is a misdemeanor you will likely get mediation for 90 days. You go plead not guilty and then you wife will have to go and testify that you are not abusive then after 90 days charges are dismissed. If your wife is not willing to testify for you then you get a ticket and a misdemeanor on your record this is pretty much cut and dry and an attorney will charge you $800.00 for the same info!!!!
