If someone attacks my dog and I assault them will I go to jail?

My sisters boyfriend ran towards my dog and attempted to stomp on him. He's a 14 year old 5 pound chihuahua, how sick can someone be.
I punched him and told him to get out. He hit me back and I got a knife and cut his arm.
My sister told him to leave, then he left and said he was pressing charges or something.
Is that somehow self defense?

It can be interpreted as defense of your property, but since you cut him with a knife, it's probably going to be a hard sell. If the police get involved, tell them that you were defending your dog and he went after you instead and you were scared and grabbed a knife because he had already hit you and you were afraid he was going to beat the crap out of you. That's pretty much what happened, but you have to emphasis how scared you were, first for your dog, and THEN for yourself. That's where the self-defense comes in. Bonus points if you can imply that he was drunk or on drugs.

hanging a dog in self defense?

i was attacked by my own dog blue heeler,pit bull mix. I euthenized the dog but not by moral standards. i have been charged with animal cruelty class 6 felony. are there any cases in colorado that have been overturned in the court of appeals or the supreme court. please help, i can't afford an attorney and i am not sure the puplic defender is prepared to take this case to trial. any info would be of great help. the dog bit me once on the hand and twice in the face. the doctor bills are up to approximately $9000.00. isn;t the loss of my dog in this manner and the medical bills payment enough. or is it just that the county is charging me because they were unable to get their money out of the situation. what rights do animals actually have?????

You are toast. I only wish they could hang you. I wonder why your dog turned on you. I suspect it had a reason.
