Is the right to self defense the only unilateral exception to the use of force?
This is in relation to the UN charter and the prohibition on the use of force as set out in article 2(4). I want to know that does the school of though that argues for preventive war ie Bush doctrine- does this fall within the remit of self-defense or does it allow for unilateral action by states?
that or if you want thier oil i guess. or if they're not white seems to be a popular one too.

self defense shooting laws in massachusetts?
okay so a crime happened in massachusetts... my friend was apart of it as an accomplice. he drove the car, and his friend punched the brinks guard and tried to get the bag of money from him. well after he struggled with the guard, he ended up running back to the car, and the the brinks guard who had the armored car shot at them, after they were fleeing the scene.
i wanted to know what are the laws of massachusetts for shooting while someone is fleeing the scene.
he had no reason to shoot at them. the newspaper article says that he thought the he was getting a gun from the car, but he could have gotten into the armored car, and driven off by the time they would have gotten back. he said he feared his safety...
I believe the armoured car guard was right for shooting. why should he risk his life to ensure the safety of some scum bag would be thief?
I commend the guard for his actions, but sadly doing the right thing in liberal Massachusetts ( as this guard did ) usually leads to imprisonment.
If a person attacks you, do you have the right to defend yourself? or does self defense make you a criminal?
