self defense in Peru?
Went to Peru. Had a nice time. And 2 of the locals took me to the airport to drop me off. Both women. Well, it was 3:00 in the morning and we were waiting outside the airport because they could not enter. A strange man was walking up. He had a coat, walked up to try to touch the girls hair. she jerked back. Then he came to me asking me my name and such. He kept putting his hands in his pockets. To be honest my whole body felt weird, like a chilling feeling. I stood up, the girls said NO, Andrew. So I yelled for a security gaurd and they chased him off. What I want to know is what would happen if I thought he had something and I fought him. As long as there was 2 locals there with me. Would I be in trouble?
Similar situation happened to me in Lima involving a cab driver. He looked like hammered dog $hit after I got done with him. No problems with the police since I too had several locals who backed up my story.

i dont understand why we cant just invest in self defense/ national security?
all this money we put towards the war, why dont we instead improve defense things such as missle defense systems, and other things that dont require occupying another country?
if terrorism is a problem, why dont we put all this money in combating it by say improving airline security, perfecting airline security, and other things of that nature.
basically why do we have to occupy other countries (bush in Iraq, Obama's proposal to further occupy afghanistan, etc.)
why cant we just perfect national defense systems ie norad, czech-u.s.missle systems.

Because people who fight defensive wars tend to lose.
Prior to 9/11 we had detected and foiled ~15 AQ plots to attack us. However they had successfully attacked us five times.
Every time we improved our security for one type of target - AQ simply shifted to a different target. By allowing AQ to select the time and conditions of their attacks they always had the advantage.
What we have done is we have forced AQ to respond to our actions. AQ is now fighting defensively and since they are forced to respond to our actions - we can manipulate the situation so as to force them to respond in a manner we can predict and take advantage of.
