Revolvers For Self Defense

What kind of self-defense hand gun would you recommend for a small woman who is not physically strong?

I am a senior citizen who owns an old 32 caliber revolver that has an easy action. I have been warned that I shouldn't shoot it, as it is too old, and besides they don't make that type of ammunition any more. The guy who told me that said he would sell me a 38 Special for $500.

I live in a state that has few gun laws. No waiting period, No license. No registration. No limits. Right to Carry law. Castle Doctrine. Concealed carry requires just a background check from NICS.

I just need a revolver that is easy to shoot and ammunition is easily available. I took a gun class many years ago, and my husband and I used to target practice often while he was alive. But it has been many years since I have used a gun.

I would have to recommend the .38 special so long as you USE .38 Special +P rounds. The +P rounds have greater velocity, more energy, and thus more "knock down" power. Also, despite the +P round's greater energy, there is not that much greater experienced felt recoil when shooting the .38 special +P rounds versus standard .38 special rounds.

For self-defense purposes, how do I decide whether I want a semi-auto pistol or a revolver (I have shot both)?

Either will do so don't spend too much time deciding. Spend your time practicing marksmanship and get some tactical training to learn the basics.
