Military Self Defense Techniques
Is the Israeli martial art Krav Maga really the most lethal martial art in the world, as I've read?
?
I'm an American, and recently I've been interested in Krav Maga, but I was wondering if you could please give me some more information on it =)
I heard that you're not allowed to learn some of the Advanced techniques unless you have military or law-enforcement credentials, which makes it so much more fascinating for me (I'm enlisting in the Army in May).
And also, I've seen some YouTube videos, and they are flat-out *amazing*, as some of the Self-Defense techniques involve disarming someone holding a gun to your head and the like:

I was wondering if you could kindly give me more information on Krav Maga - I'd really appreciate it! )))
Krav Maga is not a martial art. It has been described as a “defensive tactics system”—a tactical and logically sound approach to dealing with violent confrontations. Krav Maga addresses a wide variety of aggressive acts which include punches, kicks, chokes, bearhugs, headlocks, grabs, as well as defenses against multiple attackers and assailants armed with a firearm, edged weapon, or blunt object.
What you learn... advanced or otherwise... will depend on your training center's curriculum and its affiliated Krav Maga organization.

Why do most people think wrestling techniques are useless in self defense(US military uses many of them)?
Most people think Wrestling techniques are useless in self defense. But U.S. Army and U.S. Marine martial arts used and still are using wrestling techniques a lot!Wrestling was always one of the martial arts European and North American armies taught to their soldiers in military training!Wrestling has been used by European,Persian,Turkish, and Arab armies during the Middle Ages and the time of ancient Persia, ancient Greece, and ancient Rome!Even the Vikings used wrestling in war.Long before Jujitsu and Judo came, wrestling was the grappling martial art used by gangsters and cops!Even today, cops and gangsters use it!Wrestling techniques are still being used by modern European,Middle Eastern, and American(Mentioned above) armies`s martial arts training!
Even with newly added techniques from other Asian martial arts, the US Army Combatives still use wrestling techniques primarily!
What makes them say that? I mean, the cool ones that require set up like the canadian destroyer is useless, but the fundamentals are great for self defense. The arm bar. The sleeperhold. The key lock. the head lock. The grapevine choke hold. So all the "real" wrestling moves are useful. And even the striking moves they use like kicks are useful and real. People don't seem to realize that wrestling is not fake cause all of that will hurt. They practice to avoid making real contact to prevent real injuries. See the words, "prevent REAL injuries." So they can't really use the technique for real cause they would have shorter careers like in UFC. So because people think wrestling is fake, they tend of underestimate them. Blame to people who don't look into the background of wrestling!!!
By the way. Thanks for the lesson. Its good to see wrestling be used in other practical way other then entertainment.
