Would poison tipped blow gun make for a good home self defense weapon?

I was wondering if poison tipped blow gun like how the Amazon natives use will make for a good home defense weapon?

Does it work instantly?

It would be great: Headline in newspaper: Man kills assailant with his home made poison tipped blow gun!!

Neither the poison-tipped blow gun nor the nunchaku you mentioned earlier are ideal for home defense. However, if you are looking to make headlines with your choice of weapons consider the following:

1. A jar of black widow spiders

2. Gatling gun

3. Trained attack elephant

4. Catapult

5. Huge containers of molten lead poured from your rooftop

Any of these used in home defense would probably get you into the newspapers. I would also recommend that you record your use of these and post them on YouTube.

Self defense question?

I know nothing about self defense- I have tried to look it up on the net but there is so much info I don't know where to start!

I want to make sure i chose the right one for me.

Basically, I am looking for something that will increase strength and agility, however I want something that also gives you a thorough understanding and skills in self defense (without weapons) for if you are attacked. Something which you can use against a person of any size. I also however, want to learn some combat moves (incase I am in a really desperate situation). I want to be able to progress in belts etc.

I am mainly thinking of Karate but do you know anything that may be better suited?

Those that discount a martial art without ANY REAL EXPERIENCE OR TEACHING in it know nothing and therefore are not to be taken seriously. Those that judge a style based on a bunch of glory seeking idiots that challenge others and decide to video it and who as a result get beat are not real martial artists, they are showing off and think of themselves more highly than they actually are. I can say with all sincerity that traditional martial arts art practical and highly effective (karate, kung-fu, taekwon-do, etc). I know this from first hand experience and the experiences of my students. The key to learning how to use them is to find an instructor that understands that what they teach was originally designed for self-defense and combat, not to look pretty in a tournament or sparring competition. But the only way to find a teacher like this is to interview them. Check out their classes. Don't worry so much about cost, just observe the classes and talk to the teacher and make a descision from there.

We can all tell you what to look for, but in the end the decision is yours.
