Kung Fu Self Defense
How well does karate/ kung fu / or any other self defence lessons help?
Well, I want to join a self defense club. Any advise? What sort is the best? and how long do you need to learn it, in order to be able to see results? And don't worry I'm not asking, so that I could learn some stuff and than drop it, I realise the whole practise and proggression thing is important. It's just that I probably won't be able to do it properly for longer than two years because I will go to university/college after two years. And also I've heard some people say that none of it help.. So please just give me detail on everything you know about martial arts and self defense

Kung Fu Self Defense
Which style is most effective toward self-defense: Shotokan Karate, Choy Li Fut Kung Fu, or Kyokushin Karate?
What you want to look may be KYOKUSHIN. Because out of those three, this one is more towards real fights and has more self defence techniques than Shotokan. Although Shotokan is also good, it is geared more towards Sports nowadays. And about Choy Li Fut and all other Kung Fu's, they are mainly for long range fight, acrobatic skills, etc. For self defence the very popular Kung Fu is Wing Chun which is Close range art. Kyokushin has advantages in close, medium as well as long range combat, and it is a Full Contact Karate style which is pretty good.
But one last thing, if you get a good instructor or a good dojo ( and you train hard there), believe me you can be very deadly fighter in any martial art, whether there are more techniques or less.
So try and find out the good and authentic dojo or Instructor in your Area. GOOD LUCK...:-)
