Kids Self Defense Classes
Shouldn't it be required for kids to take self defense classes?
specially nowadays when kidnapping, molestation and the like are just way too rampant?
do you think it should be provided by the school so it would be more mandated?
just a thought, really. yours?
Kiley, i've only posted 2 Qs on the subject so i don't necessarily 'keep on asking' about it. but i'm flattered that you actually take note of my Qs. but if you watched me long enough, you would notice that i ask questions with a theme per day...and usually, i ask for opinions, not for help. so no, i was not beaten up, as well.
haha, thanks, Des! but i could never beat up the bear. ![]()
wow, blade, really? that's cool! (cool that your son's school offers it, i mean. not the part that your son can flip you. LMAO!)
I think that is a FABULOUS idea. Great way to instill good self esteem as well.

i need help on picking a self-defense class!!! please help.?
ok so im a 14 year old guy and my dad wants me to take a class so i can defense my self in case of an attack or something, but the problem is i dont know which to pick.theres so many like karate and those.but i dont know which is best.
. or please give me a description of each thing so i can pick the one i think is best. please help.
. i want to take the class because i go to this school full of bad kids and bully's. and also because im a small guy im only 5,1 and people always think they can mess with me because of my size. i am a fit guy because i play soccer but still.i have had already a couple guys mess with me in the past so yea. so Which is the best???? or describe each so i can see which is suitable for me.
i appreciate it. thanks a lot.
Brazilian Jui-Jitsu is my favorite and is arguably the best for 1v1 fighting. It is a ground fighting style that specializes in submissions (putting someone in a hold or choke in which they will have to tap out or receive serious injury), but it is specifically designed to allow the smaller, weaker fighter defeat a bigger, stronger opponent by using leverage and strategy. You will learn effective takedowns and a large variety of ways to cause broken bones and unconscious opponents.
If you are more into striking than for you I would recommend Muay Thai (Thailand Boxing). It incorporates the use of devastating elbows, knees, and an effective style of clinch fighting. You probably have short arms, so getting in close and using the hard bone of your elbow to separate a bully's jaw will be a good strategy for you.
I would also recommend wrestling, boxing/kickboxing, judo, krav maga, and certain forms of karate.
