Karate For Self Defense

Shaolin kempo karate or kickboxing for self defense?

I am a 2nd degree blackbelt in taekwondo, and am looking to add another art.I live in a small town and these are my only other options.

Shaolin kempo karate.... If this is part of the fred villary chain or how ever it is spell I would avoid them... Villary is a mcdojo

If not
Then the one with the better instructor. The style is not important but how you train and how good your instructor is, are both important

Ok tell me; what does Karate offer for self defense that Muay Thai doesn't?

They both punch, kick, knee and elbow!

Oh where to start...karate has huge varieties of attacks and defenses, where Muay Thai has more basic and simple moves. If you are looking for a martial art that will help you in a street brawl then Muay Thai would be good, but if you are looking to stop the brawl before it even happens, go to karate. The style matters a bit, but as long as you are not in a McDojo, you will be fine.

Oh and I take offense by you acting like karate is all one thing, there are 4 main styles, and a lot of the others are McDojos, I think you will find that the most reliables styles are the 4 Original styles, or decedents of them.
Hope it helps!
