Jiu Jitsu For Self Defense
Kajukenbo or Krav Maga or other self defense martial art?
So I'm a 17 year old martial artist looking for a self defense art. When I get out of college I want to be a police officer or go into the military so this could save my life someday. I've done Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the past, but I'm looking for something more "street". I was wondering witch martial art you would recommend and why or if you don't like either of these tell me which martial art would be best for self defense. Thank you.
If you join the military, i'm guessing you will either be part of US or UK forces, US Army has basic techniques, USMC will train you in MCMAP which involves disarming techniques, blood chokes, punches, kicks, knee bars, etc. UK Royal Marines have a similar system to MCMAP and the British Army has a combat system to. If you join a police force you will learn some basic Jui Jitsu style wrist locks ect for subdueing people or for control. If you join the FBI, LA/LV Swat or a few other advanced police for forces, they will train you in basic Krav Maga.
I suggest learning something the most similar to what they will teach you in your profession.
I am biased when i say Krav Maga is the best self defense system, but i do generally believe that it is.

Jiu Jitsu For Self Defense
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Jiu-Jitsu? Better for self defense?
For those who know about these two, what is better for self defense? I also heard Jiu-Jitsu is a lot like Judo...how close is it to that? What are some disadvantages in these two martial arts when it comes to self defense? Sorry for all the questions, just want to learn about this. Thank you to everyone!
jiu jiutsu is alot of judo, as a matter fact at some point the words were interchangeable. Jiu jitsu like judo, has both standing and ground grappling, and you also learn throws.
Brazilian jiu jitsu focuses almost solely on the ground grappling.
As far as for self-defense, either art will help you, but remember that on the street there is no mat, so going to the ground can potentially be dangerous
