A hand pistol will fair well in self defense. Other wise you could muscle up and learn hand-to-hand combat. Or you could train a dog to do the self defense for you.

Do you keep a handgun or other type of weapon in your home for personal defense?

I was wondering? I keep several handguns in my home for personal defense. Also several semi auto rifles. Does anyone else believe in keeping weapons in their home for self defense purposes? If so, what type of weapons are they, and would you use them without hesitation if you had to? O, and is it true that liberals are afraid to keep weapons in their home for self defense? In short, YES!

Where we live, it has taken the State Police over 45 minutes to respond to a 9-1-1 call, if they even show up! Since 9/11, the barracks that is responsible for where we live has only 4 troopers per shift patrolling an area of several hundred square miles. From 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., that is reduced to 2 cars! So, it is imperative that we look out for ourselves!

Therefore, while our home could be mistaken for an armory for a well equipped Scout-Sniper unit, we have taken adequate steps to insure our safety. First, any poor, dumb, b*****d has to defeat the alarm system and get past our protective lab that alerts us to any movement within our village. Then, the ill-informed will be faced either by the S&W Chief's "Target" Special my wife prefers or the S&W K38 Masterpiece I use in combat matches. [NOTE: while I prefer a M1911 in .45, I feel safer reaching for a DA revolver in the middle of the night not fully awake over a semi-auto I am intimately familiar with ... just a safety preference. The pair of S&Ws (loaded with Federal Hydra-shocks) are backed up by a Remington 870 Deer Gun loaded with "OO" Buckshot and an M1Carbine.

Would I use them? I would not hesitate to! After all, it is difficult to visualize someone mistakenly entering the house, especially if they encounter both the alarm system and the dog, before the armed citizen. Anyone that continues beyond an activated alarm has bad intentions, and those intentions will not be exercised against my family!

Actually, the liberals I am aware of do not rely on their own guns to protect them, they hire gun wielding individuals to protect them ... just think back to the stories of Jane Fonda or life-guard Teddy and their infamous machine gun-toting body guards!

As an aside, none of the firearms in my home were purchased for self-defense ... but they can and will be employed in that capacity as long as criminals have more rights in our society that the law-abiding private citizen does!
