Free Self Defense Classes For Women

I want to start a women's self defense/awareness class, anyone know how to go about it?

I have noticed a common vein during conversations with females I know. They are very apprehensive and dare I say scared about going out especially at night... Which is saddening. I have plenty of combat and self defense and fight training from a multitude of sources, so I want to start a class to teach fundamentals of awareness and defense for free. I will do it as a public service to help create a better sense of confidence among the women around here. I just want to know really what do I need to do to get it off the ground? legal issues? Will I need to register as a business? its for free so I don't think so but I am not sure... Lots of questions I know, but it's important.

So if anyone has experience in the field please offer your info!

If you are just teaching awareness and fundamentals, you shouldn't be too worried. Once you start teaching physical technique you will need insurance.

You could start a meetup group on meetup.com.

The non-profit NOT-ME! has lots of free material on the 5D's of Self-Defense you can use with your classes.

I just want to keep myself safe?

I am a young 19 year old woman. I would like to be able to learn hands on self defense. None of that Karate or martial arts crap, but real self defense... how to act in which situation for example. Can anybody help me find free or really cheap hands on classes, where i can practice what i'm learning? I just started being independant and i can't have my brothers walk me every where forever...

local YWCA or adult education classes or community college are available where you can learn basic self defense and practice there on someone.
