Specifically for two certain books, this question applies. Writers often attempt to confer power on a marginalized group of people in their works of fiction in an effort to addrss the group's lack of power in the mainstream society or to make a push for full and equal rights in society for this group. Women have been disempowered, marginalized members of American society for centuries. Describe how the women in the Bluest Eye and in Their Eyes Were Watching God were raised as powerful, self determined individuals who control their own destinies(or struggle to do so). Your response would be mucho appreciated.

With politicians like Lallu and Mullu,blocking the bill at every stage and opportunity and all the time singing the same tune that an Indian woman's rightful place is in the kitchen (this credo doesn't apply to their own womenfolk except perhaps Rabri and Mrs.Mullu),and the Congress-led government at the
center failing and not having the guts to buck these two village idiots ,the 33% reservation for women will remain a pipe dream for the women.And you are going far ahead by talking of "women held environment" whatever that means!Have a Nice Day.
