effective martial arts styles in each division : chinese, korean, philippines?

for me personally, I like styles directed toward real-world situation, combat, empty hand, mostly external, self-defense. well i like hapkido, hwa rang do (korean); kali sikaran including panantuka, sikaran (philippines); wun hop kuen do,wing chun kung fu (chinese);kempo (american) krav maga, kajukenbo. By looking at those styles, I am pretty sure you can notice what aspect I like -straightfoward, fast, strong ( not the "boring" dances of kung fu styles they are not for me ) what do you have mind about your preferences ?

My favorite styles are as follows.
Kajukenbo - Americas first mixed martial art.
Kali, Arnis, Escrima - Filipino martial arts.
Choy li fut - Chinese style, very good for multiple opponents.
Okinawan Kenpo - Hard hitting straight to the point kenpo.
Jujitsu - Japanese style, very effective.
And many, many more.

Chinese police assaulted me for talking about Judaism in a cafe?

I am on vacation in China and I was talking to some guys in an internet cafe about Judaism when someone had called the police and they tackled me outside. One officer sucker punched me in the stomach, so I swung back in self defense. They arrested me for assaulting a police officer and discussion of religion in a public area.

What my question is, do I have to contact the US embassy? This was Police Brutality.
PS: Why is this illegal in China? This is retarded.

You are in a foreign country, one that is a dictatorship. You don't specify which area of China you were in so it's hard to tell why the police reacted the way they did. Some areas are hotbeds of religious strife and the police react swiftly.

The freedoms and rights you expect do not exist there. Talking about a faith is touchy. You may have offended someone there and they reported you (especially if the talk was animated and loud). The police may have thought you were preaching (trying to convert someone) which is not acceptable in many areas. Regardless of what you think, you are a guest in that country and expected to obey all the laws. Doesn't matter what you or I personally think.

As for police brutality, I wouldn't go squawking about that too much. The treatment you received was likely not out of the ordinary. Again, you are not in the US, you are in the People's Republic of China - a dictatorship that has an appalling human rights track record. The local government is not interested in your rights.

HOWEVER, if you have been charged with a crime you need to contact the embassy. They are your best protection because they are trained in how to deal with the Chinese authorities. If the charges are dropped, keep your mouth shut and leave the area immediately. Don't tempt fate.
