What are the most important things to know to be a good entrepreneur in retail business?

I want to play in retail business. Is anybody can help me what are the basic things that we have to know to be a good in retail business?

- dont ever underestimate the cuningness of your competitors but at the same time respect them and that they have an equal place in the market. you must both learn to work of each other, but never let your guard down.

-always respect your customers, be loyal to them and will return the favor. treat each one as equal, we have all seen that scene from pretty woman and its too true, i have seen it happen a few times.

-dont ever underestimate word of mouth, its an extremely valuable AND damaging thing. it can draw people to your business or blackball you big time.

-be creative whenever you can, whether its with prices, advertising, moving into new areas or products, always generate lots of new ideas on how to better your service, product or operation, you would be surprised how many people get dirty stinking rich by turning a fleeting creative thought into action and execution.

-most important, enjoy, love and have faith in the product you are selling. if you dont believe in it, nobody else will. if you dont believe in it, find another product to sell. you will find your job a lot more enjoyable and fulfilling if you follow this last one.

-even mooore important...have fun! its life and there are alot of great opportunities in this fantastic world for the budding entrepreneur. get excited. 'dumber people than you have gotten rich with stupider ideas' lol
