What is better for self-defense/ street fighting? Judo or Brazilian Jiu - Jitsu ?

I also do taekwondo for 3 years now, so what will match with taekwondo more?

Rob B and Lone Butcher are on target. You have to find you art and perfect it. Very hard work and commitment. Judo is Thows, Arm bars, Chokes and Grappling. I have practiced Judo for 39 years. I still have a lot to learn but would not hesitate to be the winner of any thing thrown from the street.

Good martial arts for self defense?

I am currently learning Muay Thai for self defense purposes. From what I have learned so far, it seems to be great for the self defense tools I am looking to gain. The only problem is that it is only available 1 day a week. So I thought about taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 2 days a week to compliment the Muay Thai. Does that sound like a good and effective combo for self defense? I am not looking to get into MMA at the point. However, along with self defense skills I would like to gain some confidence and discipline as well. Thanks to whoever comments. By the way excuse the bad spelling.

Jiu Jitsu is pretty good, for basics you might want to try Thai Kwon Do or boxing. They will improve fitness and basics such as punching, blocking, and stances, TKD helps kicking and general technique, plus is a very popular martial art so there should be plenty of oppertunities to practice and even spa.

Other than that the best martial art you can do for self defense is Nin Jitsu, but its very very difficult to find somewhere that teaches it. and it does not really complement other martial arts.
