Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Self Defense Techniques

different forms of martial arts for self defense against weapons?

What is the list for other forms of martial arts for self defense against weapons such as a knife stick guns et cetera other then krav maga. I started mixed martial arts about eight months ago focusing on three fighting styles Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and they are all really great and now for the last piece of the puzzle to be considered a well rounded fighter is a good self defense weapons technique. A lot of people keep saying krav maga but I have been looking around and there are no krav maga schools around where I live. so I started looking into aikido but they are mostly sticks and the two schools near me don’t even teach self defense against any weapon so can someone give me a list of some martial arts for self defense against weapons. Please and thank you

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu question?

Iam going to start BJJ... and there are two schools near my place. One is a no-gi academy and its like a gym.....and the other one does have a rank system and its more like a dojo... Both of them are good. Iam just worried that if I train in the one that makes us wears gis, the techniques I learn wont be useful on the street or for self defense because you are never going to wear a gi.

I say you should do this:
If you are just starting, then get into the gi dojo. because the transition from gi to no-gi is generally easier than the reverse. Taking off the gi will make a gi-based fighter feel faster, more fluid, and more able to escape submission attempts and hold-downs. Its also better for self defense purposes because there are many ways to use a person’s clothing against them and most of the hold-downs, chokes, and throws that come into play in the gi game work equally well on an opponent who is wearing regular street clothes.

Based on this, I say you should train maybe for a year or so in the gi dojo and then enter the no gi gym.
