Bjj Self Defense

Is karate still an effective method of self-defense?

Is it still effective if you have a good teacher or is it not as good as it is built up to be. Are there a lot of martial arts that are more effective than or against it (examples:BJJ, Jui Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, Mauy Thai, Judo and maybe Taekwondo) if you could tell me if or which any of those work it would be much apprechiated.

Yes it is. Like all martial arts it depends on where and how you train. If it is a good school with a good instructor it is a great martial art.

The art doesn't determine the effectiveness. Instructors and your ability to apply what is taught determines the effectiveness.

For the record. Karate is not just a stand up martial art. It has ground and other grappling techniques taught if it is a good class. Those things have always been part of Karate training.

i currently do bjj/ kickboxing/mma at tiger schulmanns im about to quit its a mcdojo and no real proper training.
i know there is no best martial art every style has its pros and cons.please dont comment like take my style its the best. just recommendations and why

im 5 ft 8
122 lbs

im really thin but not extremely skinny
i have strong arms weak legs, alright core

Leaving Tiger Schulmann's was a great decision.

You could always just find a legit MMA gym, and keep training BJJ/Kickboxing/Boxing.

If you can find a legit Krav Maga school (tough to find in the US, most of them are mcdojo's out to cash in on the "reality based self defense" craze), then you'll learn awesome self defense. I lucked out when I did Krav: One instructor who trained and taught in Israel, another who mixed in his Boxing/Judo training into the class. I learned a ton.

Either one of those is a good bet. Just make sure you see who your trainers would be.
