What is the best and most effective self defense art?

Hey, I'm planning to start fitness and self defense training when i'm 16 years old, (2 more years, I'm 14). I want to know what is the best self defense art which is really effective especially in real life fighting. I was thinking about Krav Maga but I don't know if there are any Krav Maga classes in West Palm Beach Florida. Please Help. Here is a video of Krav Maga.

Ideally I'd say get some sort of combat sports striking and grappling combination. For example boxing/jiu-jitsu; kickboxing/wrestling; muay thai/sambo. But practically I'd recommend just finding a style of grappling you like and sticking to it.

If you ever have to take on someone they'll probably be untrained and it will be easy to get the fight to the ground and dominate them there if you practice some form of grappling. Even if they are trained it's extremely hard to keep the fight standing and strike. Usually the only kind of fighters that can do that are people with extensive grappling experience in the first place. Also if you practice any kind of effective striking art it will require extensive hard sparring which puts you at risk for pugilistia dementia [brain damage].

I'd say find a reputable jiu-jitsu place, and see if you like it. If that's not practical for you because of price you can just join you're schools wrestling team; which is free. Wrestling is an excellent combat base because it teaches you how to control where the fight takes place, that is standing, or; on the ground, an it teaches you how to control people on the ground and gain superior position. The only draw back of wrestling as a grappling sport is that it doesn't offer any submissions. But you can just gain a superior position on the ground and pound your opponent with punches, elbows, and hammer fists.
