What is the best knife for self-defense, as well as survival?

Important information before your answer: THIS IS FOR A STORY. I am NOT going to buy a knife and go shank people and then go live in the woods or something crazy like that. I simply need the basic type of knife, some of its characteristics, and maybe a link to a picture. Thank you!

you could try a building site.some of them blokes are hardasses i'm sure they'll give you a lesson in self defense.put hand in pocket,take out money,go to class,pay for lessons like everyone else.not being rude mate but learning on the net is more likely to get you hurt than help you.
