Basic Self Defense Tips
What will my first time in MMA training and competing be like? I'm nervous.?
Ok well a little bit of basic facts about me: I'm 17 years old (never did any form of MA and MMA will be my first time) weight about 128 lbs, and I'm 5'8.
Ok well I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty nervous since it's my first time and I really want to do this for self defense, stay fit, and compete for the love of the sport. The gym is about an hour away from me (closest one) and I'll be going 3 times a week (I do have job) and deep down I really want to do this. I already have hand wraps, training gloves, and a mouth guard.
Here's the gym: http://www.vasquezacademy.net/
Any tips for me? Thanks would really appreciate it.
Ahh, A fellow Texan. look, there is nothing to be nervous about. Just remember to stretch out prior to throwing kicks (or you will be sore later) and remove all jewelry (My first day in MMA training I left on a ring while grappling, which ended up scratching a team mate). You'll have instruction, so just do what your told, you'll do fine.
Just remember the environment is set up to learn, so winning every match or out boxing a training partner isn't the goal, learning technique and implementation is.
Good luck.

A good MMA diet For 150-160 pounds?
Ok so i recently decided to start taking Kempo Jitsu ( A not so well known form of ju jitsu teaching lethal attacks and self defense) and mix it in with basic mma training. ( grapples, guards, take downs, submissions, boxing) But my problem is i don't know what to eat so here is what i figured.
1. Wake up have a banana and a glass of water, jog workout rinse repeat
2.For lunch have a plain baked potato and chicken
3. 2-3 more times eat a banana, yogurt granola bar always with a glass of water
4. While working out drink half water, half gatorade.
I Weigh between 150-160 and will be training 2 days a week 1-2 hours a day (Kemp jitsu one day, basic mma the next) and doing workouts the rest of the days. Any tips here would be appreciated
try 40% Carbs,40% protein and 20% fats and see how you feel while training. Cut sugars, pastries and garbage carbs , these will do more harm then help. Eat lean meats , fish chicken and turkey. Try this for a month and tell us how you feel.
Never forget,Cardio, cardio, cardio
